We will be honoring First Responders on Sunday, November 19. A reception for our local heroes will follow the 10:00 worship service. The Bristol, Damariscotta, and Newcastle Fire Departments, the Damariscotta Police Department, Central Lincoln County Ambulance, Lincoln County Sheriff, and Maine State Police have been invited. They will be recognized for their unswerving devotion to serving the emergency needs of our communities here in Mid Coast Maine.
The church’s pastor, Rev. James P. Dowse, served for ten years as a Chaplain for the City of Rome, New York Fire Department before moving back to Maine in 2016. “What strikes me again and again,” said Dowse, “is that every time the call comes in for help, first responders are literally willing to put their lives on the line. Every one of them will deny being a hero. They will say, “I’m just doing my job.” But they are heroes, in the best sense of the word.”
The recent hurricane-force storm stretched all first responder agencies to the limit. They responded as they always do: professionally and compassionately, seeking to put the needs of their neighbors above their own.
The public is cordially invited to come to the church in Bristol Mills on November 19 and say thank you to the men and women who make up the first responder agencies here in Lincoln County.
